About Arsin Rug
The Arsin family has been part of the world of handmade rugs for over a century and a half. The story begins in 1880, when Haj Teymour Arsin founded the family trade in Tabriz.
Generations later, Abbas Arsin entered the craft alongside his father, Haj Mohammad-Ali Arsin, and soon set out on his own — collecting and exporting valuable antique carpets, a path that led to galleries in the United States which today rank among that country's most reputable handmade-rug galleries.
Today the Arsin brand designs and colors its patterns in the Tehran studio and weaves in the villages of Iran, with hand-spun wool and natural dyes. Developing spinning, dyeing, weaving and restoration workshops in under-served regions is part of the brand's mission — joining the art of weaving with entrepreneurship and cultural work.
Re-weaving and reviving Persia's classic carpets — from Sultanabad and Bijar to Heris, Qashqai and Farahan — repatriating old Persian rugs and kilims from Europe and America, and bringing the kilim and jajim back into Iranian homes are among Arsin's central activities today.
Beyond the gallery collections we also take custom commissions: choose your size, colors, even your own design, and once you approve the dyed fiber samples your rug goes on the loom — with progress photos sent straight from the loom while it is woven.
